Fine watchmaking tools arranged on a workbench

Why choose us

What a considered workshop
does differently

There are many places to leave a watch. Detik Warisan is a place where the work is done with care, the process is explained clearly, and you are never left wondering what happened.

At a glance

Six things we do well

Deep horological knowledge

Our founder trained under qualified watchmakers in Singapore and Switzerland. That background informs every service we carry out, from the simplest battery change to a full mechanical overhaul.

A thorough, unhurried process

We do not work to a queue. Each watch gets the time it needs — no corner-cutting, no components cleaned in bulk, no re-oiling done by guesswork.

Modern workshop instruments

We use ultrasonic cleaning, precision timing machines, and pressure-testing equipment. Good craft and good tools work together.

Honest communication throughout

We tell you what we found, what we recommend, and what it will cost — before we start. If something unexpected comes up mid-service, we pause and contact you first.

Measurable, lasting results

A mechanical movement that has been properly overhauled should run well for years. We check timing after every service and invite owners back for a settling-in review if they notice anything.

Transparent, straightforward pricing

Our prices are published. Additional costs, if they arise, are discussed before they are incurred. You will not find an unexpected line item on your collection receipt.

Professional expertise

The human behind the work

Watchmaking at a serious level takes years to learn. The tolerances involved in a mechanical movement are measured in thousandths of a millimetre. Getting it wrong is not always visible to the naked eye — it shows up in erratic timekeeping months later.

Encik Hafiz Othman spent nine years training and working before opening Detik Warisan. Every member of our small team has been taught directly by him, and he reviews all mechanical work before it leaves the workshop.

  • Training completed in Singapore and Geneva
  • 15+ years of independent workshop experience
  • All mechanical work personally reviewed before release

Tools and instruments

Craft supported by precision equipment

A skilled watchmaker working with inadequate tools will produce inconsistent results. We invest in the instruments that allow us to work accurately: ultrasonic cleaning baths, professional-grade lubricants applied with the correct dispensers, digital timing machines, and calibrated pressure-testing equipment for water-resistance checks.

  • Ultrasonic cleaning for movement parts
  • Multi-position timing machine checks
  • Calibrated pressure test for water-resistant cases

Customer care

The experience of leaving a watch with us

Leaving a watch with a workshop requires a degree of trust. We aim to make that trust feel well placed: we log every intake piece with a description and photograph, communicate proactively if timelines change, and never proceed with work that was not agreed in writing.

  • Intake log with photograph and written description
  • Written condition report before any work begins
  • Proactive updates if anything changes mid-service

Value and pricing

What the price actually covers

Our service prices are listed without conditions. They reflect the actual scope of the work: a mechanical overhaul at RM 235 includes full disassembly, cleaning, oil replacement, reassembly, timing verification, and a settling-in check. Nothing is charged separately unless additional parts or unexpected work arise — and only after your agreement.

  • Published prices with no hidden additions
  • All-inclusive scope per service
  • Additional costs discussed and agreed in advance

Results and outcomes

What you take away from a service

A well-executed mechanical service should return a watch to reliable daily performance. We set that as the baseline. Owners collect their watches with a written record of what was found, what was done, and what to watch for. Many return years later for subsequent services — the clearest measure of whether the work held up.

  • Written record issued at collection
  • Post-service settling-in check available
  • Long-term relationship with returning customers

What sets us apart

Three things you will not find elsewhere

The "Talk it through" consultation

Before any decision is made, you can sit with us at the bench and we will walk you through what we see. No time pressure, no sales pitch — just an honest look at the watch and a clear explanation of the options.

Full written service record

Every watch leaves with a written record: what was found, what was done, what was replaced, and the timing readings after service. This travels with the watch and has value for future servicing, wherever it takes place.

A policy of "only what is needed"

We do not suggest work that is not necessary. For cosmetic restoration in particular, we discuss the options carefully and recommend only what the watch genuinely calls for — sometimes the most respectful choice is to leave a patina in place.
